Sue Cato brings impeccable contacts, credentials and experience, having worked on business-critical issues and hostile corporate activity with many of Australia's top 100 companies and various international corporations.
Sue began her career as a political media advisor in NSW and Canberra. In the late 1980s she and a partner privatised the skills developed in politics and co-founded The Kortlang Group, which grew into Australia’s largest issues management and corporate affairs company. After its sale to the global marcomms giant Omnicom in 1996 and eventual merger with Gavin Anderson, Sue took the role of Managing Director of Gavin Anderson & Kortlang for an agreed period.
Sue established Cato Counsel, a mirror of her old firm, in 2003. Sue is a regular ‘Spin Doctor’ on the national broadcaster‘s Morning Show and a panellist on ABC 24’s evening current affairs show .The Drum. Sue is also a commentator on business issues for the national press.
She is a member of the board of Australia’s Museum of Contemporary Art based in Sydney, is a member of the Foundation of the National Gallery of Victoria, and the Council of the Sydney Theatre Company. Sue has also been an Executive Director of the National Gallery of Australia Foundation.
