As Executive Director of Arts Law Centre of Australia (Arts Law), Robyn Ayres has a deep understanding of legal issues pertaining to the arts as well as Indigenous cultural intellectual property. These include issues such as copyright, moral rights, Indigenous intellectual property, classification and censorship, prizes and competitions, resale rights, freedom of expression, wills for artists, design law, business structures and governance for arts organisations .

Arts Law provides free or low cost legal advice and referral services to artists and arts organisations nationally, across all art forms (music, theatre, film, visual arts and craft, designers, writing, digital etc). Arts Law has an Indigenous service called Artists in the Black. Arts Law has 3 websites, two of which deal with Indigenous issues (Artists in the Black and Solid Arts). Arts Law has extensive relationships with lawyers and law firms who provide their services pro bono.

Arts Law is a strong advocate for freedom of expression and the better protection of, and respect for, Indigenous intellectual property both in Australia and internationally.

Robyn is also the Board (Deputy Chair) of Community Legal Centres NSW.
