Dr Monique Beedles is an author, speaker and non-executive director, internationally recognised as a thought leader in asset management. Dr Beedles holds a PhD in Corporate Strategy and has 20 years experience as a board director across commercial, government and not-for-profit organisations. As an advisor to boards and executives, Monique specialises in Strategic Asset Management, supporting large corporate and government organisations to create value from their assets. Her experience encompasses heavy industries such as mining, rail, ports, utilities and defence, as well as healthcare, education and information technology. Monique is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and her most recent book, Asset Management for Directors, was published by AICD. Monique is a Certified Asset Management Assessor under the ISO 55000 international standards for asset management and a Non-Executive Director of the Asset Management Council.
Monique began her career as a research scientist in an industry with an imperative to innovate. She pursued her PhD in Corporate Strategy to better understand how companies make the strategic decisions that enable innovation. 20 years on, she believes that every industry has an imperative to innovate. Monique is passionate about reducing the risks of innovation so that the benefits can be realised. Monique has been recognised through a number of awards including the QUT FEW Harvard International Scholarship and the Women in Technology Executive Award. As a leader in her field, Monique supports and mentors other women, especially those in male dominated industries.
To complement her technical expertise, Monique also holds a Graduate Diploma in Creative Writing (with Distinction) and is an experienced author of books, newspaper and magazine articles, blogs and media commentary. She has been interviewed for publications including the Australian Financial Review, Company Director magazine, Business Review Weekly and The Courier Mail. She has also given radio interviews.
