Marian is an Associate Professor at The University of Sydney, an IZA Research Fellow, an ARC Life Course Centre Researcher in Human Capital, and a Charles Perkins Centre Affiliate.


Her research focuses on education, human capital, health, and discrimination and has been published in leading international journals in economics and health (PNAS). Marian's down to earth divulgation style has led her to obtain a range of teaching awards and recognitions.

Marian has given a myriad of national and international radio interviews and her research has been featured in TV shows such as Sunrise Weekend and ABC News. She is also a regular collaborator of educational-related news on SBS Radio in Spanish. She has written for the Mandarin, the Conversation and consulted for the Australian Chamber Orchestra.
