Kirsten Paisley is the Deputy Director of the National Gallery of Australia having joined the organisation in 2015.
Prior to this she spent 11 years in regional Victoria, most recently as the Director of Shepparton Art Museum (2007- 2015). Her achievements with SAM include the $2 million redevelopment of the Museum, which won the museum the 2012 Museums Australia Best Small Museum of the Year Award. In 2013, the museum was selected by Arts Victoria and Deakin University as one of four in the state of Victoria to be showcased as a best practise model for the sector.
As well as curating many exhibitions and publications for SAM, including Delinquent Angels: John Perceval’s Ceramic Angels 2014, and Speaking in Colour: The Collection of Ziyin and Carrillo Gantner, 2013; Kirsten spearheaded the development of a $42 million new art museum development, established the SAM Foundation for this ends, with the local Council committing $10million to continued progress in May this year.
Kirsten has a Bachelor in Visual Arts, a Masters in Curatorship and a Senior Executive MBA from Melbourne Business School.
