Genevieve Timmons is currently the Philanthropic Executive with the Portland House Foundation, a private family foundation in Melbourne. She specialises in design of contemporary giving programs, strategic planning and professional development of staff and board members.
During an extensive career in the philanthropic grant-making sector, Genevieve has managed two philanthropic foundations with charters to promote social justice and equity, and headed up several giving programs with the goal of promoting community vitality. She has had extensive involvement with a range of trusts and foundations in New Zealand, and is an ardent ambassador of the quality and scale of New Zealand philanthropy.
Genevieve holds many positions including Deputy Chair of the Inner North Community Foundation, a Trustee of the George Hicks Foundation, and a board member of both the Victorian Foundation for Survivors of Torture and the Indigenous Leadership Fellowship Program.
Genevieve’s professional commitment is to the vision of just and inclusive societies, where the needs of everyone are respected, and their contributions are valued. In all work undertaken, priorities are to enhance the practice of trusts and foundations as investors in civil society, and to maximise the benefits derived from every philanthropic dollar. Genevieve is mother to three and has two grandchildren.
