Eve Mahlab came to Australia as a refugee. Her wide experience includes practicing as a lawyer (Family Law), a business founder, owner and builder (Mahlab Group of Companies), a public company director (Westpac Bank and Film Australia) and a Non Profit Board member (Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research and Monash University Council).

Eve was a prominent spokeswoman for the Women's Electoral Lobby and is a former President of Philanthropy Australia.She is the Co- Founder and Chairwoman of the Australian Women Donors' Network which is part of a burgeoning global movement promoting philanthropic investment in Women and Girls. Her family is part of the Jewish Funders Network.

She is a passionate about harnessing the talents of women in the interests of economic competitiveness and has used all her positions of influence to advocate for addressing big issues through a gender lens.

In 1982, she was named Australian Businesswoman of the Year. In 1988 she was awarded the Order of Australia (AO) for services to government, business and the community, especially women. In 1997 she accepted an Honorary Doctorate of Laws from Monash University.

She has 3 children and 6 grandchildren, 5 of whom are boys.
